Influenster!
May. 25th, 2012 at 1:13 AM
I signed up for Influenster tonight. I have seen a bunch of Influenster VoxBox openings and reviews on YouTube. This past week, I have watched a1nettie's Summer Beauty VoxBox opening, as well as those posted by MDianAdams and TheLemonadeDisco. They got awesome products in their VoxBoxes. These ladies are all YouTube Gurus whose channels I am subscribed to and I really like watching their videos. They are very informative and educational. Most recently, HeartsNStars88 influenced me to sign up for Influenster.
(Update
I have not been able to upload any of my own videos to YouTube yet because I need to buy another xD card for my Olympus camera. I have been thinking about just recording videos on my Android phone, but I am not sure how well that would work. I might do it tomorrow, though, because I really want to get started building my channel on YouTube. I'm just worried about the quality if I upload directly from my phone because I won't be able to edit the video.
I am really looking forward to seeing what Influenster is all about. I have unlocked the Tweetster badge, the Midwest badge, the Freshman badge, and the Youtuber badge already. I suppose that is not uncommon. People must do that right away when they sign up all the time. I wonder if those are the easiest badges to unlock.
I really like the bright orange and pink on a white background that seems to be the Influenster website theme.
The ladies on YouTube say that Influensters get to fill out Surveys and win Badges to see if they qualify to be sent a VoxBox. I wonder when I will start receiving surveys. I am excited to see what kind of products Influensters are asked to review.
Cheers,
Have Fun, Everybody, and Blessed Be. Thanks for Reading.

Hello, Everybody! Welcome to my blog. I've just got up and running, so there may be a few rough spots that need to be ironed out, like the spacing of paragraphs not showing up properly, but I will soon have those worked out. Thanks for having a look, a nice long read, and I hope you enjoy the content.

Birchbox and Age-Appropriate Perfume
May. 24th, 2012 at 1:32 AM
I posted this on MakeUpTalk.com in the May Birchbox forum in reply to someone's question about the Birchbox Beauty Profiles.
Birchbox does not pay attention to your profile. Plain and simple. Sorry, but based on my 2 months receiving Birchbox, and comments from people reviewing their Birchbox on YouTube, which I have seen a lot of because I want to know what everyone is getting, they do not even really look at the Beauty Profile. Except maybe I think they look at people's age when they throw the perfume samples in the boxes. I'm 33 and to me Viva La Juicy smells like an old lady covered in baby powder. After I told Birchbox that, I got an e-mail on choosing an age-appropriate scent, which was all about and only about Viva La Juicy, which I think is kinda rude, considering that how people feel about scents and what people like to wear is not based on how old we are. Just because I'm a certain age does not mean I should choose scents that Birchbox likes for people that age. I happen to like cotton candy scents and sugary scents and fruity green scents, not baby powder. This month I got Arquiste L'Etrog, one of Arquiste's scents that seems to be used by a lot of older women in their 50's and 60's. The older ladies where I work use scents similar to L'Etrog. I don't think perfume is an age thing, but I have read that as women age our sense of smell changes, which is how I attribute the fact that older women gravitate toward strong musky scents. Maybe they have a harder time distinguishing fruity, caramel, green scents.

Arquiste L'Etrog Feedback May 2012 Gossip Girl Birchbox
May. 18th, 2012 at 12:18 AM
This is my feedback which I left on the Birchbox the Arquiste L'Etrog perfume sample I got in my May 2012 Birchbox. I got one of the assorted Chic Sunday Bruch Boxes. This is a very strong perfume and it is not something I would ever wear.
Rate your familiarity with the Arquiste L'Etrog brand prior to Birchbox.
1 - Totally new to me.
When was the last time you purchased an Arquiste L'Etrog product?
1 - Never.
Rate your familiarity with the Arquiste L'Etrog product prior to Birchbox.
1 - Totally new to me.
What do you think of Arquiste L'Etrog
2 - Not that into it.
On a scale of 0-10, would you recommend Arquiste L'Etrog to your friends?
0 - Not at all likely.
Are you planning to purchase Arquiste L'Etrog after sampling through Birchbox?
1 - No, not planning to purchase.
It's too strong a scent. Old Fashioned. Deep. Rich. I like it, but I cannot wear it. A full size costs $165.00. That's almost half my montly rent. It's not an every day perfume. It's much too strong to wear to work.

Twistband Heaband Review May 2012 Gossip Girl Birchbox
May. 18th, 2012 at 12:14 AM
spring, bees, fall, beautiful, summer
Here is the feedback I left on the Birchbox website for my twistband headband that came in my Gossip Girl box. My headband is black. It's kind of a very loose, not so stretchy woven elastic material. I think the twistband ponytail things are rubber or just plain elastic, but this headband is definitely some kind of woven material. It's about 1/4 inch wide.

Share Your Opinion: I can buy a role of this stretchy elastic material at Hancock Fabric or Hobby Lobby for about $10.00 for 30 yards. Whoever is making these things is raking in a huge profit, which is always an awesome thing for a niche product seller. Way to go. I would not recommend them because if anybody asks me where I got it I'm going to tell them I can make one.

May 2012 Birchbox Gossip Girl Chic Sunday Brunch First Look
May. 17th, 2012 at 1:58 AM
I think my Birchbox this month is the one called Chick Sunday Brunch, although nothing in the box really says Chic or Gossip Girl to me. But the nail polish was nice, the headband is okay if it fits, and if I can dilute the Arquist L'Etrog perfume sample with another perfume and it smells okay, I will definitely wear it.
Everybody knows by now that I do not wear makeup, except eyeliner and lip products. I have acne and anything on my face besides toner or astringent or spot cream makes the acne worse. So, no makeup for me. I am thinking of trying some new 3 in 1 eyeshadows that I saw at Walgreens last night because I do not have acne on my eyelids. Hey, I'm 33 and just discovering beauty products, so what can I say? I'm entitle to change my mind whenever I want.
Here's what I got in my May 2012 Birchbox. This month's box is a Gossip Girl theme and I was really looking forward to it, but none of these products really say "New York Upper East Side" to me. I'm sure I've seen this sentiment elsewhere online in relation to this box because a lot of people are mad it has not lived up to the hype.
1. Arquist L'Etrog Perfume Sample. 2. Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25+ 3. Color Club Foil Collection Nail Polish 4. beautyblender blendercleanser 5. Twistband Skinny Headband
1. First Look: The BB Cream is Empty! I was mad. The package looks like it could hold a quarter ounce sample, at least, but it says 0.06oz? Are you kidding me? I like the color of the little squeeze bottle, though. It's kinda almost Tiffany Blue. And I thought it was an actual clear balm/lotion that goes on at night for like a moisturizer or something. Maybe under foundation during the day. Not that I wear foundation.
2. First Look: Arquist L'Etrog. It so does not smell like the description on the Birchbox website. I love it, but it's way too strong and musky for me to actually wear it by itself. I think I'm gonna mix it with my Eco Revert by Rue 21 and see how that goes. I did have my age set at 33 years old on the Birchbox Beauty Profile, but this is 2 "age-appropriate" perfume samples in a row and I do not like them, so I changed it to 25 years old. I also switched my Splurge Item from Perfume to Nail Polish. This was after I got my shipping notice for the May Box and I saw on the Birchbox website what was in it.
3. First Look: Color Club Foil Collection Nail Polish I love it. But that's only because I love nail polish. I just started painting my nails again in March 2012 after about 10 years. I probably painted my nails 5 times in the past 10 years. It just wasn't my thing, I guess. Now it is. I had bought about 5 nail polishes since the end of 2008, and used maybe 2 of them. But in March I decided I was going to paint my nails for Saint Patrick's Day. Now I'm addicted because I like the bright colors and the seemingly endless possibilities of nail polish. I don't like the dull gold color of this Color Club Foil Collection polish, but I'm going to try it Ombre-style over some black or metallic grey, I think.
4. First Look: beautyblender blendercleanser What the Fuck? I do not have a beautyblender. I was not even subscribed to Birchbox in February or March when they sent them out in the Birchboxes. This is a bunch of bullshit that they would send me this. Apparently a lot of other people feel the same way because the May Birchbox Openings on YouTube have some very disappointed ladies. I e-mailed Birchbox to ask what was up. They said use it on your hairbrush to remove buildup. What Buildup? I rinse the conditioner out and I don't use hairspray or mouse or anything else on my hair.
5. First Look: Twistband Skinny Headband A pack of these is how much? I can buy a spool of elastic just like this at Hancock Fabric--a whole spool for less than that. A 6-pack of Twistband Skinny Headbands is $20.00 on the Birchbox website. Holy Crap! Whoever makes these is making a huge profit off dumb girls who like to spend money on hair ties. Mine is black, which I guess goes with almost everything, so I like it well enough. Problem is, these kind of things are never big enough. We'll see when I try to wear it.
And that's my first look at what was in my box. Oh, and the notecard, which we cannot review. Bummer. But I love that I get 10 Birchbox Points for buying my box, and 10 points for each Product I Review, so that's 60 Birchbox Points this month. I did already review the Dr. Jart+ BB Cream sample. I gave it a very bad review. I posted it in the previous entry. The Gossip Girl trivia card would add an element of fun to the box, but I don't watch Gossip Girl, so I can't play the trivia game and therefore I can't win a prize from Birchbox associated with the game this month. That is sooooo not fair.
I really like that Birchbox is giving us the ability to really say how we feel about the products with the possibility that our comments will be posted on the website starting this month. My Nickname for the Product Feedback is ThePeridotCricket.

May 2012 Birchbox. ThePeridotCricket. Gossip Girl Box. Chic Sunday Brunch. Dr. Jart+ Water Fuse Beauty Balm SPF 25+
Here's my evaluation for Birchbox on the Dr. Jart+ BB Cream that came in my May 2012 Birchbox. Very Disappointed.

I believe the bottle says 0.06oz for the sample. That is very small. The container looks like it could hold 0.25oz. A lot of people were complaining theirs was empty, and I could not squeeze anything out of my sample, either, but the girl at Work whom I gave last month's perfume sample to managed to squeeze half a pea-sized dollop out of the BB Cream container, so I can't legitimately say it's empty. It looks like a concealer to me and I do believe Birchbox changed the product description after the boxes were shipped because when I e-mailed Birchbox to says this was a tinted concealer, I had taken those words right from the description that popped up when I clicked the picture of the BB Cream on my Box Page. I did try the product on one of my pimples, but it is too light for my skin tone, eventhough I am caucasian and do not have a tan yet this year. It didn't work to conceal the pimple, unless you count making it lighter than the rest of my skin. I did not like it.
I had seen on the MakeUpTalk forum for May's Birchbox that a lot of people were actually getting an empty sample of this product, so when I got my box I knew it would not be that great. I really do like the advance warning. I had also seen a few box openings on YouTube by that time. People were opening their boxes and finding the Dr Jart+ empty. I feel really bead for everyone who got this sample in their May 2012 Birchbox.

April 2012 Birchbox
Tuesday, December 4, 2012
Yes. I made 2 entries on CricketsBay in 2010, then I didn't use it again until April of 2012 when I started receiving Birchbox.
April 2012 Birchbox
Apr. 14th, 2012 at 3:52 PM
Here's my post on the Makeuptalk.com Birchbox Forum from today.
It looks like I got Box 23. I am so disappointed. April is my first month. I logged into my account and clicked on the Box tab and the picture shows all the stuff I was really hoping I did not get. And it seems that newbies really do get the most leftover samples. My ideal box would have been Box 11, but we can't choose, so it's luck of the draw. My box has not arrived yet, so I'm still very excited to see what's inside, but it's kind of a letdown as well.
First of all, I specifically checked in my Beauty Profile that I like fruity scents for perfume. I got a sample of Viva la Juicy. I made the mistake of spraying a sample of it on myself once. (Gotta try new things, right, and I had no idea what it smelled like.) Oh, my gawd! It's horrible. It smells like baby powder mixed with rubbing alcohol, and when it dried, it smelled like baby powder and gardenias. Maybe it's just me, but I think Viva la Juicy is nasty. I know some people like it a lot, but it is not my style. Birchbox's website specifically says it is a floral scent. I cannot wear anything that smells like roses or gardenias. Those scents give me a headache as well. Real roses smell wonderful, but rose-scented perfume makes me sneeze and my head hurt. Maybe if the gardenia part of this scent is not really noticeable, I could handle it, but I did not like the test spray.
Here's Birchbox's description of Viva la Juicy: "Top notes of wild berries and sweet mandarin flirt with lady-like middle notes of honeysuckle, jasmine, and gardenia. Warm base notes of caramel, amber, vanilla, sandalwood, and praline hover beneath it all."
However, the ladies at Work are raving over it. It's promised to one of them if it really does turn out to be as bad as the tester I sprayed on my arm. I made the stipulation, "If I don't like it, you can have it." Looks like it may be her lucky day.
Befine Exfoliating Cleanser. I use a couple different kinds of exfoliating cleanser on my face, Biore and Clearasil's Morning Cleanser. I need to switch. I have an acne problem. I am actually looking forward to trying this sample. I hope it's in a little squeeze bottle thing instead of a foil packet so I can get more than 1 use out of it. The picture of Box 23 does not show the actual sample, just the Befine card. Bummer, but it keeps the anticipation alive.
Befine Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15. It doesn't say it's tinted, so that is awesome. I don't use a tinted moisturizer. However, I am wondering how well it is going to go with my sunblock. I'll give it a try and find out. Befine is supposed to have really good products, so I'm happy getting 2 Befine samples to try together, well, the exfoliating scrub before I apply the moisturizer, of course, but you get the point. I need a good, oil-free moisturizer to use on my face every day that's not going to clog pores and make the pimples worse.
Stila Smoky Eye Shadow. Another leftover sample. And I cannot use it. Is it waterproof? If it is, how the Hell am I supposed to get it off if I do try it out? I do not wear makeup, thus I do not have waterproof makeup remover. I did buy an Urban Decay eyeliner a couple weeks ago and I'm contemplating trying that out, but even if it is waterproof, it's eyeliner, so it doesn't seem like such a big deal as trying to remove a huge swatch of eyeshadow. I'll probably give the 3 tiny, miniscule samples of eyeliner on a card to a different lady at Work. They don't even look like real eyeliner samples. I am very disappointed with this sample. Other beauty subscription boxes give actual eyeshadow samples in cute little bitty containers. Birchbox gives crap. Luxe, full-size samples?
Hollywood Fashion Secrets Hollywood Fashion Tape. Well, what can I say? I might use it. Isn't this a leftover sample from the March box? Or was it February? Maybe both. I have a silky purple and white shirt that could use some help not falling off my shoulder at Work, so I am definitely going to try out the fashion tape. I probably won't be buying it, though, because I can get it cheaper at the drugstore. The Boss said I was in violation of the dress code, eventhough absolutely none of my bra was visible and my cami was under the silky shirt in case it did fall down low enough where my bra would be showing, so next time I wear it, the fashion tape is a must-have.
Shu Uemura Essence Absolue Nourishing Protective Oil. This is the only product in the box I am actually thrilled about. One awesome sample out of the 6 listed at the bottom of my Birchbox page has totally made this box worth it for me. I have a frizz problem. The conditioner I use just isn't cutting it and I've been looking for something else. I had no idea there even was such a thing as hair oil until recently and I am really looking forward to using this sample. I've seen good reviews of this (or maybe it was another brand of hair oil from the March Box) on YouTube. If it works, this will probably be the first full-size product I by from Birchbox.
And on a final note, in case I get an eyeliner sample in my next Birchbox or something ... anybody got any ideas on removing waterproof eyeliner without using waterproof makeup remover? And how am I supposed to remove it from my waterline anyway? My eyes are closed when I wash my face.
Have Fun, Everybody, and Blessed Be. Thanks for Reading.

Ginko Russians
Aug. 26th, 2010 at 5:34 PM
Thursday, August 26, 2010 Omaha Public Library 5:25 p.m.
I chose the Autumn Ginko background for my journal because it seems cheerful. Orange and green are nice and bright and happy-looking. I'm kind of depressed right now. The happy colors of the ginko leaves seemed like a good choice.
I noticed a long time ago that LiveJournal expanded to Russia. That's all well and good, except I don't read Russian and a lot of journals and communities are posted exclusively in Russian. I typed in the word Photography to do a search in People and Communities and 90% of the search results seem to be in Russian, which I find is completely pissing me off right now. How am I supposed to take part in Communities and such when I can't read what's going on or respond or post there?
I'm about ready to go walk through the Old Market and take pictures again today. I got a few Tuesday, but the sun was shining on the griffons I wanted to photograph and making weird shadows and light spots that I don't want to photograph, so I'm going back today after that side of the building is shaded and get pictures. The griffons are on the end of the Tannenbaum building on either side of the gate for the event planning place across from the hotel at the edge of the Old Market. I cannot remember the name of the street right now.
I'm in the middle of playing CarTown on Facebook. My boss likes it. I'm trying to be participatory or something. I'm about to quit my job, so I don't know why I'm trying to make him happy. He's a nut about Apps on Facebook. I like Mafia Wars on MySpace and I've got it on Facebook, too, but it's not da shit on Facebook the way it is on MySpace. Anyway, I went into Work yesterday (or maybe it was Monday) and he asked me why I haven't been doing CarTown. I haven't been doing it because I forgot about it. And I haven't logged in since Sunday. Or maybe it was Saturday. It had to be Sunday because that's when he yelled at me and said I'd go back on Political. That is bullshit. He was pissed because I supposedly didn't do something right when he never actually told me how to do it in the first place. He just said, "Change it now," so I did and I thought I did what he wanted. I do several Apps on Facebook when I remember they are there. I used to do a few on MySpace, but I don't have time anymore. And they got boring, so I quit most of them. CarTown is not exactly exciting, either, but I'm trying it out.
Current Mood: depressed Have Fun, Everybody, and Blessed Be. Thanks for Reading.

I set up my new LiveJournal account today. I am going to delete the old one as soon as I get the old blog entries copied and pasted and transferred over. There are only a few of them. I haven't really used that account at all in about 2 years and the web address for it does not fit what I am doing now, so I'm just going to erase it. Delete the account, actually, in case I wasn't clear enough.
I'm interested in making jewelry and taking photographs. I'm bored and I want to sell my photos and necklaces online. I'm trying to start a small craft business. Getting a business license is a pain in my ass.
I live and work in Council Bluffs, Iowa. I think my boss may be about to fire me. I'm looking for a new job whether he is or not. I can't stand my job anymore. The people there are so fucking moronic and full of shit it's not worth it anymore.
I've always been interested in photography. In December 2009 I bought my first digital camera. I didn't start using it until March. Since then I've taken over 3,500 photographs. My favorite one is of a damsel fly at the pond in Gene Leahy Mall. I'll post it here when I'm using my laptop and have access to the pictures on the hard drive. A damsel fly is like a dragonfly but its wings fold back when it lands instead of stick out to the sides.
Have Fun, Everybody, and Blessed Be.

LiveJournal.com does not allow me to post images from my Android phone. I have been struggling with it for months. In order to have a more successful blog, I feel like I absolutely have to be able to post pictures. I'm reviewing products, after all. People want to be able to see them, right? I have had a Blogger blog fo over 5 years that I have not been using. ? I just added The Peridot Cricket to the list of Blogs on that account about 6 months ago, and then I stopped using it because I needed an older Blog for Influenster, which I had on LiveJournal.com. http://cricketsbay.livejournal.com
I am going to be shifting blog entries from there to here over the next few days. It will probably be a pain in the ass, but it will he worth it in the end, I think. Then I will begin posting new content here. My LiveJournal blog crossposts with my Twitter account. I am hoping I can find a way to make this blog do that as well. Wish me luck and thank you for reading my blog.

Tutti Frutti Revlon Lip Butter and Maybelline Pop Sticks!
Here it is Friday, June 1, 2012, and I'm finally posting this entry that I started 5 days ago, so here it is, eventhough it's a little late.
Sunday, May 27, 2012
Revlon Lip Butter 015 Tutti Frutti
$6.48 at Wal-Mart and $7.49 at Walgreens. I cannot find them at CVS.
Maybelline Shine Sensational Pop Sticks
Retail Price Unknown. I couldn't find them at Wal-Mart, Walgreens, or CVS.
I found the most fantastic lip product ever at Wal-Mart a couple weeks ago. Revlon Lip Butter in the color Tutti Frutti. It's number 015.
We get paid on Saturdays. I have Mondays and Tuesdays off, so most weeks Tuesday is errands and shopping day. On Tueday, May 15th, I went to Wal-Mart a day early because I needed to get a new air mattress for my bed. In case you're wondering, I sleep on a Coleman air mattress because a regular mattress is too hard. Well, it went flat, as they do from time to time. They have an average lifespan of about 6 months, with one having popped around 2 months and the record for longevity being 9 months. I had actually made the trip to Wal-Mart on Monday, a day early, but I got everything else and forgot the air mattress, so I had to go again on Tuesday. I got the air mattress and my back is very relieved, hopefully for the next several months.
On Monday, I also forgot to look for the new Maybelline jelly lipsticks while I was at Wal-Mart. I think they are called Maybelline Shine Sensational Pop Sticks, but I'm not sure. If they didn't have them at Wal-Mart, I was going to try Target next. Anyway, I couldn't find the Pop Sticks, so I was looking at all the lip products and I found the Revlon ColorSensational Lip Butters. I had heard about them on YouTube and MakeUpTalk.com, but I had never actually seen them before. I hadn't seen the Pop Sticks before, either, and this was my first expedition to actually look for them. The Pop Sticks were first on my wish list and the Revlon Lip Butters were second. Now it's the other way around.
I don't want to try lipsticks because I've heard so many people complain that lipsticks dry out their lips and sink into the lines, and I don't want so much pigmentation like lipsticks provide. Tinted lipglosses kinda gross me out. They are always sticky and some of them smell funny.
When I found the Revlon Lip Butters, I was very excited because I've really been wanting to try them. They are $6.48 at Wal-Mart, which isn't bad. I like the color orange, so I was drawn to 015 Tutti Frutti right away. There was only 1 left. The brightest red one, Candy Apple, looked interesting as well, but I have been trying to limit my spending on beauty and skincare products I haven't tried yet, so I had decided I could only get one of whatever lip product I found that day. First thing I noticed was the colors. There were only 9 or 10 but there was everything from baby pink to brown to fire engine red and burgundy. And then there was the bright orange Tutti Frutti, which stood out between it's pink and reddish neighbors. I thought there were supposed to be more colors. The names are so cute. More about that later.
As soon as I picked up Tutti Frutti, I looked at the top to see if I could see the real color of the product. The top of the case is cloudy on some other brands of lipstick and lipgloss. Seriously, why do cosmetics companies do that? The tops of the Revlon Lip Butter cases are clear. I was thrilled that I wouldn't have to buy it or swatch Tutti Frutti to see what it really looks like. After that, I also like that the Revlon Lip Butters are packaged so the outside cover looks pretty close to the same color as the product inside. And the case is made to look like a quilted blanket. That is so neat. I picked up one of each color and looked in the top to see if they all matched the packaging. Whatever color the plastic case is, it's pretty close to the color of the lip butter inside, so that's nice, too.
It was really hard to walk away and not buy the bright red Candy Apple lip butter as well, but I made myself do it. If I liked how Tutti Frutti looked, then I could always come back and get Candy Apple. I couldn't wait to get home and try it out.
I wear a lot of orange and bright red, so matching my new orange lip butter to my wardrobe is not a problem. I went in the bathroom and used the mirror to apply it almost as soon as I got home. I was wearing an orange splotch/tie dye sort of Polo v-neck t-shirt that day. 015 Tutti Frutti is not neon orange like my t-shirt, but it is very orange and very bright. I was very happy that it went so well with my shirt. (I want to say, "It went so nice with my shirt," but I know that's bad grammar.) When I opened the package, I noticed the lip butter looks like a very greasy lipstick, so I was a little bit worried about how it would feel on my lips. Through the little clear panel on the lid, it doesn't look nearly as greasy as it does once I open it. I haven't used lipstick in a long time, but thing I most dislike about lipstick is the heavy, caked-on feeling on my lips. But this Revlon Lip Butter glides on so smooth I can hardly believe it, and no matter how many times I go over it to build the color on my lips, it doesn't feel heavy or greasy or caked-on. I love it!
Tutti Frutti goes with bright red as well. I've worn it with a plain white t-shirt and bluejeans and it's not so bright that people stare like they want to know what the Hell I was thinking when I applied my lipstick that morning, but it's bright enough that everybody can see I've got a bit of color on my lips. I have worn it to Work, and just out and about, almost every day since I bought it and I am absolutely amazed at how smooth it feels and how it moisturizes my lips. I take it to Work so I can re-apply it several times a day, which is the one downside to the Revlon Lip Butters. So far I've only used the orange one, but it does have staying power, it does go on true to color, but it does seem to melt after maybe 5 or 10 minutes and get darker, but the staying power is limited to about 3 hours at the very maximum.
The staying power is not tremendous, like you would expect from many lipsticks. But Lip Butters are not Lipsticks. I have noticed that if I put on a lighter coat it's initially darker because my natural lip color shows through more than if I go over it more times, and the change is less noticeable when it melts and gets darker. I've had people say that Tutti Frutti doesn't melt or get darker when they wear it, but I think that's because they put it on really heavy. If I put it on heavy, it does seem to stay really bright a lot longer, but I usually just apply it and go over it twice. Either way, it looks and feels like it melts, and I like that because it feels very moisturizing, but not sticky. It also does not migrate into the little lines outside the edges of my lips like lipsticks will on some people. I really like that about this lip butter. It stays where I put it. I do have to touch up the edges with a paper towel or a Kleenex every single time I put it on, though, but it's possible that's just me. I can't color in the lines.
I throw it on my desk at Work so it's handy when I need it. People see the bright orange Tutti Frutti I've brought to Work and they ask, "Is it really that bright?" It is when I first put it on, but after a while it melts and gets darker, so that's why they ask if it's that bright when they see the container. I've been co-ordinating my clothes for Work based on what goes best with my new lip butter for the past 2 weeks, and trying it with different colored shirts almost every day. It's way more noticeable when I wear my neon blue t-shirt than when I pair it with my white t-shirt under a collared orange vest. It seems to stand out less with just the plain white t-shirt (no vest) than it does with the blue t-shirt. As you can tell, we have a very casual dress code where I work. It's not so bad that you can come to Work dressed in torn jeans or a tank top, but bluejeans, tennis shoes, and t-shirts are the norm.
I think this lip butter stands out so much when I wear the neon blue because the orange in Tutti Frutti doesn't have blue undertones. I want to buy one of the pink colors and see if it goes better with my blue t-shirts. That is going to wait until after I buy one in the color Candy Apple, which I will probably only wear when I have on a bright red shirt or a red tank top under a button-up shirt, but I really want to try a blue-toned pink lip butter and see how it works. When I do get a pink lip butter, it will probably be the pink one called Cupcake, but other descriptions say Lollipop also has blue undertones, so I will have to pick one or the other depending on if I want a lighter color or a darker color the day I go to pick out the next lip butter. I don't like light colors that make my lips not stand out against my skin. Lips the same color as my skin are not my style.
The entire week after I bought the Tutti Frutti Lip Butter, I spent half my free time looking up reviews and product descriptions online. I want to know about the products I'm using. The Revlon website says their lip butters are supposed to be super-moisturizing. I definitely agree with that. My lips have never been softer. I feel like I'm going to have to buy a lip scrub to exfoliate my lips in the shower because I've read that when a person uses lip balms and moisturizing lip butters, the resulting extra moisture they provide fools the skin cells in the lips into not producing new cells as fast. That can't be good. So far the only 2 drawbacks with this lip butter are having to clean up the edges every time I apply it and the possiblity of having to buy a separate exfoliator scrub for my lips. But I do want to see if I can get a sample of a lip scrub from Sephora or Ulta, so that's not entirely a bad thing. I've also watched several reviews of Revlon Lip Butters on YouTube. Some people love them. Some people hate them. They complain about the lack of staying power. But remember that lip butters are not lipsticks. They are not intended to last 8 hours without re-applying. The Tutti Frutti Lip Butter I bought lasts 2 or 3 hours at the very most. When I eat, there's a hint of color left on my lips if I leave the color on, but not it does need to be completely re-applied when I'm done. I usually just take it off before I eat anyway.
I bought 1 Tutti Frutti at Wal-Mart on Tuesday, and on Friday, May 18th, I bought a lot of 3 of the same color on eBay for $10.50 with free shipping. That's $3.50 each. They arrived the next Wednesday. I heard the mail truck stop in front of our house about 5 p.m., which it only does if there are packages to be put in the block of mailboxes in front of the house. There were 2 packages in my mailbox when I went down to check, and one of them was the lip butters I had purchased on eBay. They are unopened, sealed, and unused. The other package was the Travalo I won in the giveaway sponsored by Travalo and PinkxLipgloss on YouTube.
Between buying the orange lip butter on Tuesday and buying 3 more on Friday, I went to Walgreens and CVS to see if I could get them cheaper than I had at Wal-Mart. Walgreens and CVS both charge $7.49. Because I've been looking around online, I know there are 20 colors available. All 3 stores I've looked at have about 10 colors. Maybe Target has all 20 colors or I'll be able to find them all at Sephora. I am planning to go there tomorrow, so I will ask about the lip butters and the Maybelline Jelly Pops. I want to get perfume samples at Sephora and buy a couple things if there's anything I absolutely need while I'm there.
I've also been looking online for the Maybelline Jelly Pops. I bought a set of 4 on eBay this past Friday, May 25, for $12.95 with free shipping. That's about $3.25 each. They should arrive this week. I first heard the Maybelline Shine Sensational Pop Sticks them from Anna Saccone Joly's YouTube channel, TheStyleDiet, a couple months ago. I just started actually looking for them on May 15th. I couldn't find them at Wal-Mart, but that might be because I didn't know what they were called. After that, I started looking them up online and it looks like Maybelline has more than 1 product line with the same kind of packaging as the Jelly Pops Lipsticks. I did find them on eBay this past Friday. I searched YouTube for the words "Maybelline Jelly Lipstick" until I found a review that had really good pictures of each Jelly Pop and all of them together, then the numbers on the bottoms of the tubes. You would be amazed how many people who make videos on YouTube cannot take good pictures.
There are only 4 colors of the Pop Sticks available, which, thankfully, narrows down the selection process to practically nil compared to the Revlon Lip Butters. I know I'm going to have an agonizing time choosing the best pink and red (besides Candy Apple) out of 20 colors. The colors for the Maybelline Shine Sensational Pop Sticks seem to be neon pink, lighter neon pink, orange, and almost-red neon pink. At least that's how they look to me. Now that I've seen them on YouTube and eBay, I think CVS does have them, but I just didn't know what I was looking for when I went there to find them. The colors are 100 Pink Lollipop, 110 Raspberry Ice, 120 Citrus Slice, and 130 Fruit Punch. I have not seen them in person without the lids, so I can't say exactly how each one does look. They look almost like lipstick-shaped pieces of translucent glass in the pictures. I can't wait to try them.

Update: Friday, June 1, 2012.
My Maybelline ColorSensational Pop Sticks arrived on Thursday! It still feels like it's the same day for me because I get up on Thursday afternoon and I work until 2 a.m. Friday morning. The shipping information the eBay seller posted says they shipped on Monday, May 28th, and I just got them today. I am so happy to finally get to try them. I will make a separate post about these new Pop Sticks soon.
Also, MaybellineNYUK released a new video on YouTube about these Pop Sticks on May 15th. It says there are now 5 colors. I think they are only available in the UK. They even went as far as deleting my comment from the video when I simply asked if all 5 colors would be available in the USA. I am not happy about that. The 5th color is Crystal Pink. It's not on eBay, none of the reviews I've seen on YouTube show it, and I'm more than a little disappointed I can't get my hands on it.
Wal-Mart does have all 20 colors of the Revlon Lip Butters. I looked again when I went out there this week, but most of the slots didn't have any lip butters in them. I did not see the top tier of the display when I was there 2 weeks ago. I don't think it was there then. Apparently half the colors are out of stock. They still have not restocked the Tutti Frutti, either, or maybe it's really popular and they sold out again.
As for the names of the Revlon Lip Butters, there are no flower names. I like that. Tutti Frutti is named after a lipstick from the 1950's. How cool is that. The lip butters are named after confections and candies and I think the names match the colors pretty well in most cases.
I did not make it to Sephora. That is going to have to wait until the 2nd week of June because that's the next time I'll have time to get out there. Sephora is inside JC Penney out at Marketplace.
